Howell Kline Surveying, LLC, a Professional Land Surveying firm located in West Chester, PA, is seeking Assistant Survey Manager candidates. Successful candidates should have a minimum of five (5) years of experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and supervise drafting in the preparation of all survey data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys.
  • Interpret and verify the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations.
  • Research legal records, survey records, and land titles to obtain property information.
  • Review title commitment reports and supporting documents to determine where and how easements affect a property.
  • Prepare Legal Descriptions of surveys for use in deeds, leases, or other legal documents.
  • Prepare all types of surveying plans and exhibit drawings utilizing research and the information gathered in the field.
  • Provide periodic field crew instruction, as necessary.
  • Assist in preparing project estimates, as necessary.


  • Must be a current Professional Licensed Surveyor in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or hold a Surveyor in Training (SIT) certification.
  • Knowledge of the Pennsylvania Boundary Law and procedures, legal research, and deed interpretation.
  • Must have experience in rendering determinations on property boundary corners using the rules of construction.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing various types of survey projects which may include: meeting with clients, managing budgets and schedules, and coordinating field staff.
  • Valid Pennsylvania State Driver’s License.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with an electronic total station, data collectors, and GPS equipment.
  • Ability to work with design engineers, clients, contractors, and the general public.
  • Bachelors or Associates Degree a plus but not required.
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is a plus but not required.

The Assistant Survey Manager will report directly to the Director of Land Surveying. Pay: $24.00 – $52.00 per hour
